There are many options for one-day trips from Podere le Acacie to nearby historical and archaeological sites to futher enrich your stay in this beautiful and ancient land. Explore ancient and mysterious Etruscan necropolis, impressive Roman remains and romantic medieval villages and towns.

The Vulci archaeological park
10 minutes from Il Podere le Acacie lies Vulci overlooking the river Fiora. This ancient Etruscan Roman town is located in the territory of the Montalto di Castro municipality. Musical events and guided tours of the archaeological park are organized during the summer period.

A 10 minutes drive will take you to the romantic medieval village of Capalbio. The old village, surrounded by ancient walls, has a very special atmosphere thanks to its narrow alleys, the castle with its impressive tower, the small squares and little churches.

Il Giardino dei Tarocchi
only 10 minutes away is the artistic park called Il Giardino dei Tarocchi. The garden, created by Mrs Nicky de Saint Phalle, is dominated by sculptures, up to 15 meters tall, representing the symbols of the Tarocchi cards.

At about one hour drive is Saturnia, an ancient village in the hills of Maremma renouned for its thermal spas since Roman times.

Pitigliano, Sorano e Sovana
At about one hour drive you can visit Pitigliano and Sorano, two beautiful ancient towns full of history. Originally Etruscan, Roman and then medieval cities, these towns are built over spectacular rocky hills and still maintain distinct medieval urban characteristics. There are several interesting archaeological Etruscan necropolis and very nice little medieval churches. Sovana is one of the most romantic medieval little villages in the Maremma area, still maintaining today its original atmosphere. We recommend a stroll along the main road and a visit to the Roman cathedral and the Etruscan archaeological site, west of the village.

A 20 minutes drive will take you to Tarquinia, one of the most ancient Etruscan cities. The Tarquinia necropolis is a UNESCO-declared mankind heritage. In addition to the necropolis we recommend the National Etruscan museum located in a very nice palace of Gothic Renaissance style and the beautiful medieval churches.

At about 20 minutes from the Podere, Tuscania dominates one of the most beautiful landscape of Southern Etruria. We advise you to visit the fascinating and well preserved Roman churches and to enjoy a walk along the medieval walls.

At about 90 minutes by train from Montalto di Castro station where it is possible to park your car. Rome is the city with the highest concentration of historical and architectural sites in the world spanning almost 3 thousand years of history. Rome and the Vatican city represent the historical, artistic, religious and cultural heritage of the western world. It is included by UNESCO in the list of mankind heritage sites.
