Landscapes and wildlife near Podere Le Acacie


The beach
At 5 minutes a beautiful natural beach is easily accessible. The access to the beach is free and two public beach kiosks sell snacks, meals and hot and cold drinks. Noteworthy is the view over the Argentario mountain and the isles of Giglio and Giannutri.


The lagoon of Orbetello and the Argentario mountain
20 minutes drive is the town of Orbetello located in an island between the east and west lagoons and dominated by the Argentario mountain. Worth visiting is the 1500 hectares wildlife reserve of Orbetello. Its fauna of migrating and residential birds are its most important component.
The cape of monte Argentario, which coast is full of little beaches and rocky bays, extends towards the 2 islands of Giglio and Giannutri destination of one day trips by boat departing from the little harbour of the town of Porto Santo Stefano.


The WWF wildlife reserve of the lake of Burano
15 minutes drive is the wildlife reserve of Burano extends for 410 hectares and includes a dune beach with Mediterranean vegetation and a salty lake dominated by a medieval tower built to alert population in case of attacks by Moorish pirates from north Africa. The fauna includes 274 species of birds and 233 species of beetles. Guided tours are available on site.


Talamone and the Park of Uccellina
A 40 minutes drive will take you to the coastal village of Talamone and the wildlife park of Maremma, a very important site to visit by lovers of natural landscapes. Uccellina represents the most important part of the park, a series of hills parallel to the coast rich of Mediterranean vegetation where live wild boars, deer, foxes and several species of birds. The park can be visited thanks to a well developed system of trails or by guided birdwatching and horseback riding tours.


Lake of Bolsena
At about one hour drive is the lake of Bolsena, the largest volcanic lake of Europe, famous for its particularly clear water. Alongside the lake are several little restaurants where it is possible to eat the local specialities and in particular fish from the lake.
